    In operation since 1960, the Allegany County Bookmobile holds the distinction of being the only county library on wheels.  The Bookmobile carries a wide variety of the most current materials for adults, teens, and children including, books, magazines, large print, DVDs, music, video games, and bestsellers.  There is an Interlibrary Loan service to request titles that are unavailable.

 

The Bookmobile schedules stops to schools, nursing homes, day cares, and neighborhoods throughout the county weekly.  All scheduled stops are open to the public.

 

The Bookmobile was donated in memory of Dr. Benedict Skitarelic through the generosity of his family.
