Older Kids' Book Group Meet at Library on January 13PRESS RELEASE - Allegany County Library System Contact: Linda Burkey South Cumberland Library 100 Seymour Street Cumberland, MD 21502
The Older Kids’ Book Group will discuss Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer on Tuesday, January 13 from 3:30 to 4:30 at the South Cumberland Library. All kids 10 thru 17 are invited to read the book and attend the discussion. This is the first book by Irish author Eoin Colfer to reach the US in a big way. The Irish are known for their storytelling abilities, especially when leprechauns and fairies and such are involved. Colfer carries on this tradition with what has quickly become a very popular series for teens. Artemis, the 12 year old main character and villain in the book, masterminds a plot to restore his family’s lost fortune. It’s humorous fast-paced action, bringing Artemis up against the LEPrecon fairy police and an advanced technological society of elves. The Older Kids’ Book Group, which replaced the Homeschoolers’ Book Group, meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 3:30-4:30. Book selections are made by the group. Copies of the book are available at your local library.
