The Frostburg Book Club will meet at the Frostburg Community Library on Thursday, February 19 at 2 PM to discuss Andre Dubus’ book House of Sand and Fog.

You’ll be hanging on every wood of this contemporary novel that pits Massoud Amir Behrani, a former colonel in the Iranian military against Kathy Nocolo, a girl who has been kind of down on her luck.  A mistake by the local tax office sets the whole plot in motion.

Come experience the fun of broadening your horizons, making friends, enjoying a social time, and taking your reading to a whole new level as only participating in a book group can do.

The club meets the third Thursday of the month at the Frostburg Community Library at 2 PM.  New members are welcome to join in on any of the discussions. Information on this group is available at the Circulation Desk or by calling 301-687-0790.  Copies of the books being discussed are available at your local library.

Library's Older Kids Book Group Meeting March 9th

PRESS RELEASE - Allegany County Library System

                   Cumberland, MD 21502

The Older Kids’ Book Group will meet at the South Cumberland Library on Tuesday, March 9 from 3:30 to 4:30 to discuss Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code by Eoin Colfer. It’s a great Irish read for March. All kids 10 thru 17 are invited!

“It’s not surprising that once you start reading this series, you’re hooked.” commented Linda Burkey, library coordinator for the group. “These books have got it all.  I’ve laughed out loud at the antics of the mischievous dwarf Mulch Diggums. I’ve cried over the tenderness shown by the fairy Holly Short toward Butler, Artemis’ sidekick. But, the personal growth written into Colfer’s main character, Artemis, is what has made these books great to discuss. Also they are extremely quick and easy books to read.

The Older Kids’ Book Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 3:30-4:30. Book selections are made by the group. Copies of the book are available at your local library.
