The Washington Street Library will hold a “Bring in the Holidays”
Saturday Story Time for Families on November 18 from 11:00 AM till noon.
Come help with the Christmas tree lighting and decorating in the
Children’s Room. Ornaments will be made and cookies will need
decorating. Thanksgiving and Christmas stories will be read.

The South Cumberland Library will be holding a book
sale on Saturday, November 18, from 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM in the
library’s meeting room. There will be a variety of hardback and
paperback books, magazines, and videos available. Prices will range from
10 cents to $1.00.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Westernport Library will remain
closed this week and is scheduled to re-open to the public on Monday,
November 20, 2006. Work is being done to replace the library’s roof and
other repairs.
The meeting room at the library will also be closed
during this period.

In order to complete the roofing project at the Westernport Library in
the most expedient manner, the library will remain closed till after the
Thanksgiving holidays, and will re-open to the public on Monday,
November 27, 2006. The meeting room at the library will also be closed
during this period.

The George’s Creek Regional Library will host Frostburg State
University’s 3AM Society for their Open Mic on Tuesday, December 5 at
4:00 PM. Everyone is invited to come share their original poetry, short
fiction, musical talents, comedy, etc. or just to be part of the
audience. Come help show you support for this newly formed free Open Mic
series, which can provide great opportunities for our local residents.
The 3AM Society is an outreach of the University’s Center for Creative
Writing which offers many unique opportunities for writers and
performers of all ages in our local communities. You do not need to have
any affiliation with the University to take advantage of these events.
The Society has a series of Open Mics scheduled at public libraries
throughout the county: Feb 20 at 7 PM at the South Cumberland Library,
March 21 at 7 PM at the Westernport Library, April 11 at 7 PM at the
Frostburg Community Library, and May 10 at 7 PM at the Washington Street
Library in Cumberland.
